Re: can lack of stretching cause pain before walking
neveragain
I am going to say yes to your question. Stretching helps to warm up your muscles. I know that if I don't stretch before exercise I get sore. You should also stretch following any exercise.
Re: can lack of stretching cause pain before walking
for how long should you do it?
i only hurt when I'm walking, and just a short time after I stop. does your soreness occur while exercising or throughout the day after you've exercised?
i recently started stretching prior to walking for a few minutes before I go for a walk but that hasn't helped. figured maybe I wasn't doing it long enough.
Re: can lack of stretching cause pain before walking
I looked up some warm-up exercise videos online prior to walking/jogging this morning & did that. Pain still there, could barely move on the way back home. It's really hard to keep a fast pace and try to lose weight with this issue. I did the stretching after coming back and used heat on my legs and then some massage gel so maybe it won't be so painful next time.
Re: can lack of stretching cause pain before walking
well, lack of luck getting rid of the pain (I now warm up before walking and stretch after, then use heat on my legs and hip) my PT doesn't want me jogging right now anyways, but it's not like I last longer than a minute at it anyways.
I considered maybe it's where I have fibromyalgia. but my mom is eat up with osteoarthritis, twice my age, and can walk with no problem whatsover without having any pain in her legs or hips & can walk alot longer than I can, though she has the pain just sitting around.
the only condition I know that causes this kind of pain is artery blockage, and there's no way I have that wrong.
Re: can lack of stretching cause pain before walking
I found out my muscles are weak, so I don't think, for me, that a few minutes stretching before and after walking, is enough to get rid of that pain, but I think that is why I have all that pain (it's just muscular weakness).
