Exercises after ALIF surgery

It has been 6 months since my Anterior/Posterior back surgery. I have gained 27 pounds, my legs are very weak, I cannot walk longer than 10 minutes without having to sit down. I do all the exercises that the PT had told me to do and now I am starting Aquatic Therapy. I still would like to know what more I can do to gain strength in my legs.

Thanks James for the "brief" answer. I have a lot of trouble doing them though. Squats, that is! When you also have knee problems, it is kind of hard to do squats. Although, I did a few of them in the water this morning. It still was quite painful.

Aqua therapy Im sure for you is best to begin with, do your squats in deeper water and graduate to the shallow end. From there sit in a chair with arms and stand up assisted by your hands and keep going till you can do it with hands on your shoulders. Then from a lower chair. Hope you progress well.

Re: Exercises after ALIF surgery

That was good info. I used to be in such great shape and the last couple of years took a toll on me. It is like starting from scratch to try to get to where I was before. This surgery really did me in but I will succeed. Thanks James
