Dizzy while walking, exercising

I had a heart attack 5 weeks ago at the beginning of Dec. In the July before that my doctor did a complete bloodwork set and pronouced me fine and my blood pressure was normal at that time too. At that time I did smoke and due to a long commute had not exercised or even done any walking for 15 years but I was not on any medication either. Now suddenly I am supposed to walk every day, or at least every other day. That's fine by me, I'm not yet back to work and have the time to do it. However, every time I do much walking, anything over 5 mins I get dizzy and lightheaded and have to stop for 10-15 mins or I stumble and my legs get weak. This symptom was especially bad in the first 3 weeks after the stent operation, when I had first started taking medication. Now it's a little better and I don't stumble or feel in danger of falling but am still dizzy and lightheaded. If I try to push past this and keep going the dizziness and weakness just gets worse. So, my question is, how do I do the amount of exercise I am supposed to do with this dizziness? Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas of what I need to do to solve this?
