Full body workout

Hello,

I have fairly recently added strength training to my exercise routine. I am working out all of the major muscle groups. Is there any reason why I shouldn't do all of the exercises in a single day. So far I am unable to complete them all in a single session. If I am able to finish them all I would estimate the workout will take about three hours. My current plan is to do this three days a week. Am I way off base here or is this a reasonable goal?

Since you are new, you should only have to do one movement per body part a session. Most strength trainings (who know what they are doing) would suggest a split like this:

Split A-
Squat
Chest Press
Deadlift/Lat pulldown or pullup/Rows (pick one)

Split B-
Squat
Shoulder Press
Power clean/Dips (pick one)

And it would be done like so:
Mon - A
Wed - B
Fri - A
Mon - B
Wed - A
etc.

3 sets of 5 reps, 3-10minutes rests between sets, up to 10 minutes between different exercises, and no failure (but very close to). Should only take 45 minutes or so.
