| Constant Undiagnosed Eye Issues for 5 Years
Hey,
I'm 19 and have just finished my first year at uni. For the past 5 years I've had constant vision issues and I am just at a complete loss as to what is wrong with me and where to go from here.
I remember when they first started. I had perfect vision and then I woke up one day and everything just seemed off. My vision was clear, I could read perfectly, but my eyes felt loose and weak and there everything I saw, whether both were open or just one, felt off. On top of this vision issue I started getting really bad eye strain and headaches. The pain started the moment I woke up and opened my eyes and got worse when playing computer games or reading.
I saw an eye doctor and he said I had a mild astigmatism and prescribed me some eye exercises to do. I did them religiously for about 5-10 minutes a day and felt no improvement after a year. I then saw my GP and he gave me some pain medication for the headaches/eye strain.
Eventually I went back to another opticians and I got prescribed some glasses for the astigmatism. While they did help a bit with the eye strain my vision still seemed off and I still had some degree of eye strain and continued to feel fatigue in my eyes.
Lost, I did some research and thought I might have Keratoconus. I had a few symptoms which made sense. Eye strain, weird vision, it starting in my teenage years out of the blue... I went to the doctor and managed to get a referral to get a scan of my cornea. According to the scan I was all clear and the only thing up with my cornea is that it's a bit thin. I got prescribed some eye drops because my eyes were dry.
I've been taking the drops for about a week and a half now and have seen no improvement. I've also recently discovered I tilt my head constantly which I believe may have something to do with the astigmatism.
I am so lost right now. I don't know who I should go to next. Perhaps my prescription for astigmatism isn't right? Maybe it's something else entirely? Something neurological? Part of me doubts it's anything scary though otherwise it would've been caught by regular trips to the opticians.
If you guys have any suggestions as to what to do that would be amazing.
Many thanks,
Will
