Kaleidoscope in vision

This may seem odd, but over the past year I have had about 4 'episodes' where my right eye gets what can only be described as a kaleidoscope. I am actually having one of these episodes as I type this at work and thought I should try to find out if there are others. My eyes feels normal except this kaleidoscope type line moves across it over a period of about 10 minutes now. I feel fine, a little dizzy becuase I am trying to work, but it is mostly in my peripheral vision area. If I move my eye, the kaleidoscope moves as well. It is so bizarre. Anyone have any suggestions or thoughts?

Punchy: It sounds like a migraine aura. You don't need to get a headache to have the visual effects. Do some research on migraine with aura, and ocular migraine (which is rarer), to see if the symptoms fit. (We can't post URLs).
