Blepharitis

Does anyone else have Blepharitis? It causes my eyes to stay very irritated. I have to wash them twice a day with baby shampoo. Ocationally I will get an infection in them, especially if I try to wear eye makeup. I was wondering what others do. Any advice?

Re: Blepharitis

I had a blood spot in the whites of one of my eyes last year. I went to the eye doctor and he said that I also had blepharitis but I did not have to treat it. I saw another eye doctor and he said it should be treated so he prescribed an antibiotic suave and he also said to wash the lids twice a day with diluted baby shampoo. I did this for about a week or so but it is just such a hassle so I stopped doing it. I figure I am already washing my face in the shower with soap and water . Sometimes my eyes get itchy and red but it goes away. It helps if I place a warm washcloth over my eyes. I don't know what else you can do. The eye doctor said I would probably have to treat it for the rest of my life.

Re: Blepharitis

Hello, SisterBaby and GeorgeP. Boy, can I empathize!! I've been battling mine for around two months, it not responding to anything, so yesterday, my opthal put me on a round of doxycyclene pills. I doubt I can stay with those things for the whole month he wants, but I will try. The last time I was on them, it acted on my anxiety and I had to quit them.

This is one battle as ya'll already know. I fight mucous strings, having to spend most days in front of a magnifying mirror fishing them out with Q-Tips. I have yellow garbage that comes from the inside (next to nose) duct. Now, just yesterday, the mess started draining out the side of my eye, and now has my face broken out where it has drained! I have some ointment for such as that a dermatologist gave me, so I've put some on this a.m. Mine stems from years of battling sebacious dermatitis.

It's hell. How well I know! Purple (Elyse) of the boards here also battles it. Hers is HORRIBLE!

My opthal has given me hope that this will clear up eventually. I've got to hold hope that it will. If I don't, it all will just feed the flames of depression I also battle. It has blurred my vision as well, making getting fit with glasses impossible.

I hope ya'll do better soon!

Re: Blepharitis

sisterbaby, yes, many of us here have blepharitis. It helps to put a warm cloth/gel pack/egg/etc on your eyes for 5-10 minutes a few times a day, then do an "eyelid massage" and maybe wash with baby shampoo.

There are 3 types of blepharitis, staphylococcal, seborrheic and MGD. MDG is when your oil glands are clogged and not working properly, which is what I have. Mine isn't as bad as AnxietyDude's or purple's, but it still very uncomfortable. My eyes are very red and dry some days, so much that I want to keep them closed.

I would recommend looking it up on a search engines to find a little more info. I have found past topics on this board to be very helpful.
