Temporary loss of Peripheral(sp?)

Every now and then (every 2 weeks-month) I dont have any peripheral vision in my right eye. It just gets all black, and it sometimes is hard to read. I just got checked for vision (less than a week ago) and i have 20:20 vision.

I just dont know if it is something to worry about- it doesnt bother me very much.

Re: Temporary loss of Peripheral(sp?)

Have your family doctor refer you to an ophthalmologist for a thorough retinal exam. I'm guessing you had your eyes checked by an optometrist. Loss of peripheral vision can be caused by migraine aura (even without a headache), but having that area go black doesn't sound like a typical aura. Please get it checked by an eye doctor.

T.

Hi,
Have you seen an opthalmologist and had yours eye dialated? Loss of peripheral vision can indicate some serious eye conditions. The sooner you have it checked, the better. An opthalmologist can check your eyes thoroughly and if any treatment is needed, sooner is always better than later.
An optomotrist isn't equiped for the kind of exam it sounds you need.

Re: Temporary loss of Peripheral(sp?)

What seems to explain it best is Visual Snow, exept its only my right eye.

I was checked by my family doctor.

Re: Temporary loss of Peripheral(sp?)

You should really been seen by an opthalmologist. If the peripheral goes "black" as you said, it sounds like something other than visual snow. You're eyes should be dialated to see whats going on inside the eye. A family doctor doesn't have the equipment or training to give thorough eye exams.
