 Anyone have Intacs? Comments?
Anyone here have Keravision Intacs installed? If so, what are your thoughts? Good? Bad? Cost?
If you don't know what Intacs are, the are rings inserted into the cornea to help flatten it and correct for myopia (correct for loss of distance vision). These correct for essentially the same thing that RK or LASIK does without any loss of tissue. They can also be removed or changed at a later date if needed.
They are currently FDA approved for -1.00 to -3.00 diopters, but are in testing for up to -4.50 diopters.
I wear contacts now and am really interested in these when they get approval for the higher range (I'm at about -4.00 diopters). I don't feel comfortable at this point about LASIK - too much risk for me.
