Wink lazy eye/20/50 other what is legally blind?

Hi I am 38 yrs old. I was just told that I have uncorrectable vision in the right eye because of a mis-shaped eye(my is the shape of a football) The other eye is 20/50 but is not able to be helped other than a +1 perscription so I can stop getting these terrible headaches from the computer. I can not use these glasses however to drive or other tasks, just computers.I would like to know if this would constitute legal blindness as far as driving a car goes. I have to renew my license soon and I am scared!HELP!!! thank you

Bonnie:

Legal blindness is 20/200; or, 10% or less vision; or, an angle of 20º or less, in the BETTER eye CORRECTED.

So, legal blindness entails a huge loss of vision. As far as drivers' licences are concerned, the requirements for corrected vision are set by the states and you could find out what they are.

I really wonder about your vision not being helped, though. I would advise you to get another opinion.

Good luck,
Moe

I have kerataconus; see post below and have been told my eye is shaped like a football. It is correctable with a special contact. You need to contact a university eye doctor in or near your area.

Bonnie:

You're asking a Canuck!

Check your driver's licence for the department that issues it, if you don't know. Look them up on the net, or phone book. Get a number, call 'em up. It's a govt dept so can't be hard to find. They can give you the info you need. "Live free or die", right?

Wish you'd given more info about your vision and why it's (supposedly) uncorrectable.

Moe
