Anyone here ever taken Accutane? - Eye & Vision Message Board

Corneal opacities, night blindness,cataracts, color vision disorder, conjunctivitis, dry eyes, keratitis, optic
neuritis, photophobia, visual disturbances...these problems(side effects) are listed in the May,2000 updated pharmaceutical insert on Accutane, a prescription acne medication.

I have and now I have been dealing with dry eyes for years and poor night vision... Sad to say but the benefits of accutane are pretty much good for me.

Your post left me speechless for awhile.
You would risk something going wrong with your eyes in order to clear up acne? That is incredible. Well, I guess your eyes aren't that important to you. You did have problems after taking accutane and still think it's worth it. Watch out for cataracts later on.
That is one of the possible side effects too.
Of course to you it would be worth it.

I am amazed at all the talk about Accutane on this heath board. I took it twice (6 years ago, again 3 years ago) and was pleased with the results. For a few years now, though, I've suffered some really annoying health issues that just reading this board is making me wonder if it is Accutane related. I have tons of stomach problems...there are tons of foods that make me sick to my stomach. Plus my sinuses and my eyes are awful....I can barely wear my contacts anymore and my eyes are always red and dry. Could this possibly be related to Accutane? If so, I would DEFINITELY say it was NOT WORTH IT! I miss my contacts and I miss being able to feel HEALTHY. Bad skin stinks, but feeling this way is even worse.

Just a reminder....drug companies must list ALL "side effects" encountered during drug trials. In other words, if one of the trial members has a headache while taking the drug..headaches are then listed as a potential side effect. The person could have had a random headache for no reason...maybe stress at work..etc but in any case it must be listed in the potential side effects. Keep this in mind when you read the inserts on medicines or in the PDR.
