Post Film over eyes constantly

I have dry eyes as many on here have, but I also get this film over my eyes and have to peel it off with my finger or else everything is foggy. In the last year, it has gotten worse. Anyone else had this problem? The eye doctor doesn't know what it is.

Hi: So sorry to hear about the film over your eyes;
it does sound very strange. Just when we think we
have heard it all. Is there any kind of drops that
you are using for dry eyes that might be causing the
film? Than a slim idea might be eye makeup; but that
is pretty remote since you say you have dry eyes, too.
My husband has been fighting dry eyes ever since his
lasik surgery a year and a half ago. If you are
using drops, he thinks maybe that it is leaving a
residue over your eyes. He has found some drops,
finally, for dry eyes that he said would be worth a
try for you. It is new and can be gotten at places
such as Walgreen's, etc. It is called Rohto Zi. He
has found some relief with that. So sad to think that
even your eye Dr. doesn't know what to think. He has
literally tried everything and does like this product.
You might try that to see how it works. Best of luck
to you. Dottie

Could it just be mucus from dry eyes/allergies that is producing the film over your eyes? I get that sometimes too, only mine are very stringy and fall out of my eyes and also irritate my eyes very much. They do impair my vision though. Unfortunately wiping it away is the only thing you can do, but just be VERY VERY VERY careful when putting your finger or anything else near your eyes. And ALWAYS make sure to wash your hands before and after touching each eye! Have you tried using any kind of tear drops?

I agree with Purple, it sounds like mucus.

I was diagnosed with dry eyes about 10 years ago and can't wear contacts now because of it, they would just pop right back off. But this film is stringy and I have had it for over 30 years, it is just that is getting worse. I have used eye drops the last few years, several different kinds, but doesn't make a difference. I do have a chronic sinus condition, so imagine that is where it comes from.
Thanks for all your imput.

If your eyes have been dry for 10 years (I shudder at the thought. Mine probably will be the same though) have they given you a medical reason for the dryness? Also, have you ever had your tear ducts plugged or cuaterized? I know exactly what you are talking about with the white, stringy mucus. I get buckets of it!
