Can anyone help identify this eye problem? - Eye & Vision Message Board

Hi everyone,
I have this problem with my left eye. I started noticing it after I got accidentally hit in the eye by someone. When I look at a light spot in the dark, I see some annoying lines around it. It looks (very approximately) like this: (ignore the dots, the server won't let me put spaces)

It does not only happend at night, but it is far more noticable when there are bright contrasts. The lines I see are always oriented in the above directions. It is quite annoying, especially when watching the TV or driving at night. Even during the day, I always feel that my left eye is not seeing as well as my right eye and it is always feeling tired. Both my ophtalmologist and my optician didnt find the problem. I do not wear glasses and they say my vision is almost perfect. I only have slight hypermetropia, not enough to require glasses. My optician told me that if I wanted she could still order me glasses. Would this help?
Can anyone help identifying the problem, and what can be done about it? I should also add that although I started noticing these lines only after my accident, I am not 100% sure that I had not this before.

Did your opthalmist check for "floaters"?
These, I believe, are not serious. It's the gel-like
stuff that has faked off.
Hope this helps, I do have alot of eye problems and
my mother has floaters that she calls spiders.

When I got my accident I was checked by the opthalmologist numerous times and he found nothing wrong with my eye... I guess he must have checked for those "floaters" you are talking about. I have told him about the lines and he couldn't really tell me why I was getting that. He said maybe it was caused by iris dilatation, which sometimes happends after getting hit in the eye. He didn't seem sure though. I tried to look on the internet for iris dilatation but found nothing.
