My son keeps having trouble with his vision and is very depressed over it especially when the eye dr. can't figure out his problem. He says he sees LOTS
of floaters, sees big solid lines (like veins he says) when he is in bright light, sees squiggly lines in dark, his night vision is getting worse and sees retinol after images (what dr. calls them) or trails when things move past him esp. in bright light. Hes afraid hes going blind and he is really depressed. He does wear glasses and in near sighted. Please help
i would recommend trying to locate an ocular immunologist for evaluation to rule out an ocular inflammatory disease. some floaters are harmless and just annoying. others can be of a more serious nature and require close monitoring and correct treatment. the description of floaters sounds like possibly a form of uveitis which can be ideopathic or link to autoimmune disease. hopefully it is just harmless floaters associated with being nearsighted. best of luck, S
Does he have any other symptoms like peripheral vision loss, fatigue, low exercise capacity, weight gain/loss, headaches, dry skin, frequent sinus/ear infections or just plain weird symptoms. If so, then he might have a pituitary tumor.
He actually has no symptoms as you describe although he has taken testosterone for hormone deficiency, but is not on this now. He is 18 years old. He has had these problems for about 6 months or so. thanks
