Cool cataracts

I am trying to find out how long it takes for a cataract to be able to be seen on an eye examination and how long it takes to effect the vision

It appears my husband didn't have any sign of one 7 weeks ago but now it is effecting his vision and is visable to the retina specialist.

Any ideas

Thanks

Spooky

Cataracts can develop over a period of a couple weeks to many years. There are different types of catacts, and the time period for each to develop is different.

Some cataracts don't affect vision at all, while some cataracts severely reduce vision. Somebody can have a cataract and still be able to see '20/20'. Again, it all depends on the type of cataract and the location of the cataract.

That is interesing. I didn't know there were different kinds of cataracts. What would cause cataracts to develop in a matter of weeks?

Certain medications and trauma to the eye can cause cataracts to develop over a few weeks.

Has your husband been using any sort of steroid drops or ointments in his eye(s)? Sometimes steroids can cause cataracts to develop quickly.
