Astigmatism causing rainbows and phenomenon? - Eye & Vision Message Board

I have a couple of questions about some visual disturbances that I have been having.

1. Increase in starbursts
2. Mild halos have turned to large halos now with a rainbow ring around the end (except around white lights..they have a blue halo)
3. When I look at something like a tv or cpu monitor or florec lights...they seem to strobe or flash on me(more so in periphrial vision)also...sometimes I can see it on everything...like in the day if I look at the sky...itlooks like heat waves, or in the complete dark...I can see a greenish or whitish strobe right in the center of my sight.
4. When I am in a dim or unlit room...there is this static or snowy like disturbance over my whole field of vision. I can see it in the day too but it depends what I am looking at. Objects with a checker pattern are easier to notice this. The "static" always seems to be in front of the object I am looking at.

All of these disturbances I just started to notice after I got a new glasses RX last october. I am 20 years old and I should inform you that my last RX was in 5th grade. I have been examined my 2 opthamologists and both said that my eyes were very healthy. I am not on any medication nor do I use any drugs. My RX is -3.75 for astigmatism. It has increased greatly since my last RX and is very high now.

Would the astigmatism be causing all or any of the disturbances listed or would it be from something else like some disorder or ilness or something. I don't feel sick except for mild light-headedness (probably from getting used to my new RX) and a cold that I am trying to shake. I also have some dental problems but that probably has nothing to do with this.

I have always had a little anxiety and occasionally a panic attack...but with all of the stress in my life now in combonation with this and me worrieng all the time...I am worrying about it daily and having a panic attack at least once or twice a week now and its driving me insane. Any info or help on this situation would be greatly appreciated. thx

1. Do you suffer from headaches?
2. What type of dental problems are you experiencing?
3. Are you sure you're not noticing the lens edge of your glasses? Do you experience these symptoms with your glasses off?

You do have a good amount of astigmatism. Were you checked for early keratoconus?

Were you given a visual field analysis?

Sounds like it could be a lot of things:...uncorrected astigmatism, early keratoconus, corneal dystrophy, impending retinal detachement, vitreous detachments (floaters), ocular migraine, migraine with aura, etc...

You need a more extensive evaluation. Seek another opinion.
