There is no surgical treatment for amblyopia (reduced vision in one eye due to lack of use in early childhood). Amblyopia can be treated by SUPERVISED patching. If you want to treat amblyopia, contact a pediatric ophthamologist (if the patient is a child) or an optometrist versed in vision therapy if the patient is older. I recommend the VTOD route forolder people because most if not all POs believe that it is impossible to treat amblyopia after 7 or 8, VTODs seem to disagree, and if you want help, you need to go to someone who will be willing to work with you. There are surgical treatments for some of the conditions which cause amblyopia such as strabismus (misalignment of one or both eyes) and ptosis (droopy eyelid). If it is strabismus that you want to treat, I have had the surgery and would be happy to answer questions. If it is some other underlying condition, perhaps you could clarify and someone else could offer advice.
