I've had several fluorescein angiograms. The shot doesn't hurt. They give it to you in your arm. The only bad part was the dye can make you throw up. I didn't actually throw up but I made the nurse give me the plastic garbage can they had in there just in case.

After the first time I had the test, they instructed me to take benedryl an hour or so before the next one to help ease that "throwing up" feeling.
Once they shoot in the dye, it's only a couple minutes until they put your head in this contraption and start taking the pictures. The whole thing is over in less than half-hour, from shot to being done.
I got my results while I was still there. None of it was painful. I was pleasantly suprised at how easy it was.
