STILL DEALING WITH ANISOCORIA - Eye & Vision Message Board

This stinks, everyone-

It's been almost 3 months later and my anisocoria, which I believe was aggrivated by the meds I took, is still hanging around.

Is this permanent, or will it just take a really long time to heal? I've been to 3 doctors and there is no nerve damage. It contracts ok in the bright light, but the dimmer light is where I run into trouble. It also becomes bigger when I'm workin out and such.

Please give me some insight into this so I can stop complaining. Thanks all.

I have the same problem only mine dialates in bright light. They are still testing me to see why it is like this. But my eye doc said that sometimes it will clear up on its own. But if yours is caused from meds then it will probably clear up but how long i dont know. Also have you been checked to see if you have Adie's Tonic Syndrome? My eye doc just had to put some kind of drops in my eye and in about 10 min they can tell you if it is or not. If so, then it could be a permanent thing. They do make eye drops that help it for physical apperances.

Hi everyone,
I had surgery on my eye last year, it was for pterygium removal. Basecally a growth that cover the pupil and is caused by sun damage and allergies. Faily common for people who live near the equator. Anyways, my point is, is that after the surgery I have had unequal pupils ever since. Not too bad of a difference, but noticable non-the-less. All I can say, is that it seems to come and go. My doctors says it is possible that I have nerve damage from the shot that was administered for the surgery and if that were the case, it would never heal correctly. I have checked into getting drops for the eye as well as contacts, but was blown off and told they wouldnt help. Is this true? What are the names of the drops I can take? I plan on seeing a different doctor and would like the know what it is that im talking about. Any info would help.

There is a drop out there that the opthamologist gave me called pilocarpine. You can ask your doctor about it, because it does shrink your pupil. Though it's primarily used for testing glaucoma patients.

As far as contacts go, I got myself a pair of color contacts. They help to shade the pupil when it dilates, but I've actually been trying not wear them. It's just an acceptance thing on my part.

Hope this helps, cause these were the options handed to me.
