Dealing with Floaters? - Eye & Vision Message Board

Ive been experiencing floaters for the last 3 weeks and 2 days ago i went to the eye doctor they did te test for detarched retina- i dont reccolect seeing flashing lights or anything, and it came up normal, though she wants to see me again in 3 weeks just incase. She also said there was no way to get rid of them! Soo anyone else dealing with this- do they go away over time, or do you still deal with the annoying peices of black lint in front of your eye.

there are many reasons one has floaters. some are mostly harmless others can be due to inflammation and require medical treatment. usually you just learn to deal with them unless you have vision loss from massive amounts and get a vitrectomy. good luck

No, definitely no cure. I have them too. You must somehow train yourself to think that this is normal, as if every person had floaters. I remember myself how annoying and depressing it's at first but I got used to them... sigh

Another possibility is that the vitreous is detaching from the retina, something extremely common and usually harmless unless it gets stuck to the retina and very occasionally damages it as it comes away, but as you are not getting flashing lights it doesn't sound as if its stuck. One cause of the increase in floaters is the wrinkling and folding of the vitreous.

I have them too. They are annoying, but I tell myself in comparison to being blind - floaters are not so bad. Eye appointments are important to have them checked out. Best wishes.
