Well, I used the sample of Systane eye drops for my dry eyes, the Dr. gave me, and it set my eyes to flames! This lasted about 4 minutes, then when the pain eased, I really couldn't tell that much difference in how my eyes looked or felt. I'm wondering now if there is something besides dry eyes at work, for that kind of reaction? Anyone else had this happen?

Alllllrighty! No problem anyway. I just didn't use 'em anymore. Easy fix.

Hi Tony - sorry you had a bad reaction to the Systane. That was the drop my ophthalmologist gave me when I first started having symptoms of dry eyes. I don't know if the Systane really hurt or helped my situation at that point because I was already experiencing a lot of pain, stinging, burning and redness. My dry eyes were caused by something called posterior blepharitis (meibomitis) and I tried several drops to see which worked the best. Ultimately, I ended up using something called GenTeal Gel. It's very soothing and my eyes don't have any bad reaction to it. It's also preservative-free, which is something you need to consider. I guess you should ask your ophthalmologist if you could try some other brands of drops. Good luck. Hope your dry eyes get better soon!

Hello, Jen! Thanks for popping in. Looks like dry eyes can be caused by lots of stuff. I'll keep the GenTealGel in brain here.

I'm having all kinds of probs with my eyes now,Jen. My vision has become stronger since the glasses were put on last March. They even vary from day to day, yet I have no other diabetes symptoms. I'm trying to get courage up to face a needle before breakfast and get checked for it. One day, my left eye is goofed, the next day, it may be my rt. a bit stronger. Both are too strong now, and I'm trying to get money up to get another pair of glasses. The other day, my eyes were better and the opthalmologist said, "Nothing wrong. You're seeing 20-20!" Yeah, sure, on THAT day, I was! Sure is perplexing, Jen. Maybe it will all settle soon. Thanks so much, and we'll talk at ya' later--

Try using plain preservative free tears, such as Bion Tears, Thera Tears or Refresh.
