Flashing Floaters in vision

When I was about 14 years old I had a problem with floaters moving across my vision followed by some type of migraine. Then it stopped for about 6 years and I, now 20, am experiencing the same problems. Often I will see one spec of light in the center of my vision.... it will then form into a flashing jagged line which will grow and move across my field of vision. After about 20-30 minutes this line will move out to one side or the other and leave me with a migraine. I have no idea what causes this or where I can even start to fix it. Any ideas?

Re: Flashing Floaters in vision

You can look up migraine triggers online. In my case, the trigger now is a sore back or neck, but for many people it is a certain food.
There is medication for persistent migraines, medication to take when the aura starts before the headache, and medication for the headache. It depends how often you have them.
A natural remedy to prevent them is feverfew, but I don't know if it works. You can look up other natural remedies online. Keep a list of everything you've eaten prior to an attack, and what you were doing (stress plays a big role for some people).
Your aura symptoms sound like a classic migraine and migraines are surprisingly common.

Hi DD
What you see in your eye does it look kinda like a lightening bolt? I see lightening bolts at the beginning of a migraine...
Take care

Re: Flashing Floaters in vision

Well first it just starts off as a little spec. Then it sorta grows into a lightning bolt type shape. It starts to curve as it exits my vision to one side or another. Follows with a strong headache for a couple hours finishing with a dull headache for about a day or so.

Sometimes, inside that C-shaped ziggy thing I'll actually get a checkerboard.
