You may want to consider :The Visian Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL - it is not an implantable contact lens) and the Verisyse is a phakic lenses, thin lenses that are implanted permanently into the eye to help reduce the need for glasses or contact, (P-IOL). A P-IOL is a "helper" artificial lens implanted inside the eye (in the anterior chamber), to reduce refractive error. P-IOLs are an alternative to conventional or wavefront Lasik, All-Laser Lasik, PRK, LASEK, and Epi-Lasik for patients with very high myopic vision. (Up to at least -20D).
As with most procedures, there is a small risk of complications following the placement of a phakic IOL. These rare risks include an increased chance of retinal detachment, inflammation, infection, cataracts, and a possible loss of cells in the thin layer covering the cornea
The phakic IOL was approved by the FDA in December 2005, and, as of December 2006, approximately 55,000 patients have had the lens implanted. The manufacturer reports that over 99 percent of patients in clinical trial were satisfied with their implant. The lens has been available internationally for over 10 years.
