Weird eye problem-Need help, please/Question about vision
Hi folks. Here's my problem. For the last yr or so my right eye had been bugging me, but can't remember the beginning symptoms. But I do know I started out with a *bump*toward the outer corner of my top eyelid. Now that bump stretches all the way across the eyelid and and it's swollen. My lower eyelid has the same type of swollen problem. I also have gunk build-up that I can see on my eyeball like a slimy string, which I can sometimes manage to pull out. I sometimes wake up with this gunk having dried up and my eye unable to open. I'm also feeling some type of *pressure* under the upper eyelid toward the inner corner of the right eye. I'm afraid it's starting to spread to my left eye and that it's affecting my vision. I've been rubbing the right eye so much it constantly hurts and stays very irritated and red, not to mention itchy.
Any ideas what this might be? I am trying to get to an eye Dr but not sure how soon I can get in to see one.
Also, I was told by the eye Dr two yrs ago that my vision was 20/200. Just how bad is that? I hate to admit it, but it's been 2 yrs since my last visit.
I almost forgot this.....I don't think it's pink eye, since no one I'm around has caught it. But then again, how long can ya have pink eye & no one catch it?
Re: Weird eye problem-Need help, please/Question about vision
Are you sure the doctor said 20/200? In one eye, or both eyes?
20/200 corrected in both eyes is legally blind. That is, with glasses, if the better eye is still 20/200, that's legally blind. In your case (I'm assuming you don't wear glasses), you'd have correction to a better acuity.
If you are having trouble getting to an eye doc, a GP might be able to figure out what kind of infection you have and prescribe antibiotics, or whatever.

Thanks for replying. The doc said both eyes together were 20/200 & I guess that was w/o glasses, which I do wear. But that was 2 yrs ago. The glasses, however, aren't strong enuff I guess anymore, since my vision is even more blurred with or w/o them on. I did find out tho that Dr bizer's is holding a $1 sale on getting my eyes checked out, so I will be finding me a way there.
