That depends upon how long you are taking drops to dilate the eye, which depends upon what type of lens implant you received.
If you got a crystalens implant, you may need to take the drops for a week or more.

Re: how long after cataract surgery will pupil stay dilated?

Thanks. I did get a Crystalens. Which drops are the ones that dilate the eye? I am using Acular, Zymar and Pred Forte. My next follow up appt. isn't until the 13th and I am to keep using all these until then, my surgery was on the the 27th.

Re: how long after cataract surgery will pupil stay dilated?

It's been 2¬Ĺ years since I had my surgery, so I don't remember that much about the drops. But I do recall that it's necessary to have the pupil dilated with the crystalens, I think because it's attached to the iris, and they don't want it being moved around by an opening and closing iris while it's newly attached. Does that make sense?
So your vision will be blurrier while you're using the dilation drops than it will be after you stop using them.
