Double Vision Correction

I have had double vision since I was 5. Recently I was told that it was due to a nerve palsy, although I have had corrective glasses with prism for many years. While getting my latest prescription for glasses, I asked (as I always do) if they made contacts with prism yet. I was surprised to hear that they do, but in the hard contact form. Has anyone ever heard of this? I would love to try a pair, for those special occasions (like weddings) contacts would be so nice. If anyone has heard of them, would you also know what type of eye doctor would need to be consulted? I already go to a neuro-opthamologist, but maybe contacts are from optometrists?
Thanks for any input.
Peggy
