Dry eyes??? Severe headache & eye pain
Hello.. about 3 months ago I started getting extreme headaches and eye pain. I went to an eye dr who diagnosed me with Accommodative Insufficiency (the inability to focus on objects up close when you're under age 40), even though I have absolutely no problem focusing up close (I am very nearsighted & wear contacts). He stated that even though I could still see up close I was inwardly struggling to focus & it was presenting w/ a headache. He prescribed me multifocal contacts & progressive lenses in my glasses, and after about 5 weeks of one thing after another working for a few days & then stopping working, I was given the highest "bifocal" prescription in my contacts & was pain-free for about 6 weeks. Now the pain has returned, & I went back to another Dr (same practice) for a 2nd opinion. She stated that she didn't think I had Accommodative Insufficiency at all and that the problem was possibly Dry Eyes. So now I am back in my original contacts & on eye drops. My question is has anyone ever experienced these symptoms.. and if it is dry eyes why would changing the prescription alleviate my symptoms even temporarily? I don't really trust that it is that; now I'm really skeptical of what the Dr's are telling me considering I've spent over $300 upgrading to multifocal contacts & glasses that it appears I don't even need. I don't have scratchy pain in my eyes or anything, just bad pressure & headache. Has anyone ever dealt with anything like this? It is really affecting my quality of life, being in pain constantly.
