i felt a little tickle at the inner corner of my eye so i thought it was just some dry sand, but when i rubbed firmly i felt a lump (almost pea sized) under the skin immediately next to/slightly above that pink fleshy spot at the inner corner of your eye, under the skin/cannot be seen only felt ...feels uncomfortable when pressed.
i looked up chalazions but i get the impression those are more an affliction of the upper or lower eye lid, and i looked up tear duct obstruction but, i haven't noticed the problem with tearing mentioned in the symptom descriptions ...does anyone have any clue what this could be?
i am terrified to go to the doctor and have him stick a needle in the corner of my eye with me awake and could never do that so, if anyone can offer any guidance as to what this could be and maybe some preliminary treatments (i'm going to try hot compresses and massage...) to try, i would be soooo grateful!
I have had chalazions for 2 years. It started as stys but they never drained and now i have recurring ones. Now I have tried everything and that includes six types of antibiotics. You might just have a sty, you should go see a doctor since infection is a fear and it being your eyelid is a senstive spot. Also, don`t worry about the needles if they do need to drain, i have had 8 surgeries so far and they are not nearly as bad as anyone makes them sound, annoying yes but not horrible. Also if you feel confident in your doctor try whatever he or she recommends if not, ask for a specialist, like i did for surgery, i see an occuloplastic surgeon.
hey, thanks for taking the time to reply to my post... i'm sorry i didn't reply to the earlier poster who asked what happened - but you haven't lost out because, sadly, i still have the little "bump" ...it's not visible to others so i just try not to touch it, and live with it and hope it doesn't get bigger and, if i ever find anything that makes it go away (*praying* ), i will post for sure! ~princi
i'm surprised that someone replied, and so quickly - thanks!!! ...i think i've tried the compress thing BUT i have trouble getting a compress any hotter than lukewarm, and keeping it warm for more than a few minutes, do you have any tips (maybe there's some sort of "warmer" i can buy to keep a 2nd towel handy for when the 1st inevitably cools?) that might work? best, ~princi
