Do a search for epiretinal membrane/macular pucker. That's what I was diagnosed with several years ago. Sometimes, if it really interfers with your vision it requires surgery called a vitrectomy to correct the problem, which is an outpatient procedure which is what I had. If the membrane is very thick like mine was, the procedure may have to be repeated to peel off remaining membrane. (That's what I will be repeating in a couple of weeks) When all of the membrane is removed the waviness and distortion goes away and your vision improves.
The epiretinal membrane can also causes your eye to be blurry. It's like having a piece of cellophane over your eye, and then when they peel off the membrane your vision improves. If I were you I would make an appointment with a good retina doctor (not a regular eye doctor) and have it checked out. If it's not bothering you much they will probably do nothing but watch it for awhile. Surgery is only suggested if it really starts interferring with your vision.
I have similar symptoms. Luckily the first time this happened was in the doctor's office and she diagnosed it as occular migraine. I get a heat sensation around the eyes but no pain. I feel like I am looking through a waterfall and lose my forward line of sight for 5 - 15 minutes. Know someone else who has this and she has pain as with a migraine.

hi there this is prudent, I read what u wrote I experienced the same thing, this is the 3rd time now its happened, I was quite scared I thought I was going blind, strange feeling like a numb feeling in my left eye, rippling lines and blank spots seeing half a road sign, lasting 5 mins, went to the eye specialist not optometrist the other, tested eyes dialated, no eye disease, did the perifial eye tests they were good, said to me it was a migraine without pain, mind u I was tired after the ordeal assured me I was not going blind, but it will occur again probably
