If a small amount of pesticide/herbicide gets on your eye.... - Eye & Vision Message Board

If you had a very small amount of dried pesticide/herbicide on your hand and you rubbed your eyes, what would be the outcome?

If there were symptoms, would they occur shortly after the rubbing or a long period of time since it was a small amount?

STORY:
Yesterday, for phys ed class, we had to go play on the soccer field. Everyone was sitting on the grass (some were even playing with the grass)during the instructions but I was scared there were pesticides/herbicides on the grass. Some grass skimmed my knee. I get scared of almost everything I touched since I might have touched the grass and touched other things so now I'm scared everything I touched has pesticides on it.

Pretend there WERE pesticides/herbicides on the grass, do you think I am in danger since I also might have rubbed my eyes/put my fingers in my mouth. Please help, thanks

You are being a bit paranoid. If you had transferred any pesticide to your eye, you would almost certainly have had some sort of immediate reaction such as stinging or itching. The products used on playing fields should comply with local safety regulations that take the possibility of contact into account.
Trust the authorities to ensure your safety and don't panic about things that are unlikely to happen.
