retinal tear

Hi I am pretty new to the board. Last year I had a blunt force trauma to my left eye. Lost some vision in my left eye and went through many months of procedures and drops to save my sight. About two weeks ago I woke to lots of floaters in my right good eye. I ended up with a tear and had it lasered. About a week later I had another tear and hole in my right eye and a tear in my left. I had those lasered and have lots of black floaters still. I was told I am at risk for more holes or tears during the next 6-8 weeks.

Has anyone out there had this problem with new holes occuring after fixing the first one? I am very frightened. What is the long term prognosis for holes and tears. Any answers will be appreciated. Hope there are some out there where this is in the past and only a bad dream now. Thanks! Cyn

Re: retinal tear

My mother had a partially detached retinal about 15 years ago. Had it lasered back together right away, and she's had no problems since.

She was careful during the recovery period. Don't do things that would jolt your head too much, like roller coasters. She also has her retina examined every year.
