Grey patch adjacent to the center of vision

Today I suddenly noticed that there is a grey patch just below the center of vision of my right eye. I just recovered from a light fever and dry cough problem. I did not notice it earlier. It was definitely not there few months back. Since we miss to notice the deficiency in one eye when we use both the eyes, I am not sure when it appeared first. When I close the eye the patch appear bright in dark back ground. I have taken an appointment to see a retina specialist. I hope he would be able to help.
