sudden vision loss in November

In November 2011, I experienced sudden change in field of vision. with my eyes open I see a large black spot just under the center vision and white flashing squiggly lines. when I look out my left eye its the black oval and the white lights appear to be in my right eye. after seeing several specialists they finally said I was suffering from optic neuritis in my left eye, which caused the vision problems. Also a large scar in my left eye which they said was not the source of my vision problems. Today, 9 months later, they found a freckle in my right eye at the same location as the white strobing light that was not present before. Also found lattice degeneration in left eye near the scar. I am now scheduled to see 2 more specialists to check the thickness of the scar and retinal mole. My vision has not improved since November, have had more floaters and additional light flashes. I understand the bunching of pigmentation is not unusual, but is it something to be concerned about considering its sudden appearance after the onset of significant vision loss and disturbances?
