Cool floaters in the eye

today, 10/2/12....I am experiencing a floater in the left eye.....just enough to notice....my first one....can anybody tell how long they usually last?

Floaters don't go away. In most cases, the brain can learn to ignore them.
But mine is a big fat pain in the bucket. It's way too obvious to ignore. It actually interferes with my vision at times.

If your floater is accompanied by flashes of light or loss of peripheral vision, see an ophthalmologist ASAP. Those are signs of retinal detachment, which can cause permanent blindness.
