Is it dangerous if eye drops drain into the tear ducts? and if yes what are the dangers?

Re: eye drops

No, that is the natural pathway for fluids to drain out of the eye.

It depends what kind of drops you're referring to. Prescription drops can get into your system that way and cause unwanted side effects.

Re: eye drops

Thank you for your time to answer my question, but I think that if it's dangerous for prescription eye drops to get into the tear ducts, then they should not be allowed to be put onto the market, being that it is very likely to drain into the tear ducts. and even if that is the reason why you are supposed to hold your finger against your nose for a minute or two, it should still not be allowed on the market for a number of reasons: 1)It's still not full proof and it is very likely that some of the eye drops will drain into the tear ducts, 2) and it should still be a problem for babies who don't know how to hold their finger against their nose.
