My 12 yo DS has for months and months and months had excessively watery eyes. He does have allergies confirmed by 2 doctors but he has no other symptoms of allergies. He has no itchy or red eyes, no runny nose, no sneezing, nothing like when his normal allergies act up. For a really long time he would say his glasses are dirty, and constantly be taking them off to clean them. I mentioned this at his last eye appointment in October 2012 but they said it was probably because he needed a new perscription. He did in fact get a new perscription so I thought that would fix the problem but he is still having the issues. He even just broke his new glasses from constanly taking them off to wipe his watery eyes or to clean them. He is also after only 2 months saying he can't see as well even with his new glasses. Does this sound like an allergy or an eye problem because so far the eye doc hasn't found anything wrong? Should I just give him allergy med to see if it goes away? Sometimes his eyes have dark circles around them. Is that a sign of allergies? Thanks.
Re: ONLY watery eyes. Is it allergies or eye problem?
Usually eye problems like you describe are some other problem, rather than the eye itself. Could definitely be allergies, can you keep him away from animals and add some air purification system in his room? Also, check him for food allergies too! Best wishes!
