liver cancer

my father has suffered with jaundice for years. He has recently found out that he has liver cancer. Ever since the diagnosis he condition seems to be deteriotating daily. For sometime now he has been having diarhoea and with so many prescribed medicine, it only go away for a day and then return, he also complains of his skin itching him and though the doctor has prescribedd antihistamine tablets he is still suffering the the itch, not to mention terrible pains even though he is on pain killer, his stomach looks as if it is swollen and also his feet, I am now very concern as to whether or not surgery would save his life.

I would like to know what signs and symptoms I should expect in the last stage of cancer.
