| My 6 Year Old Cousin
HI there. I don't really now how to start..... I guess by hoping that I'm posting in the right place. I mean, I don't think there's a brain cancer section here, but if there is and I missed it, I hope this will be moved.
I have a cousin, a beautiful 6 year old. She was always very active and rambunctious but so so so sweet. Well nearly a year ago, she'd start having WICKED headaches. She would just lie in bed and scream. And scream. Even if she made it to school, if she got one in class, she'd start screaming and crying; and she's not one of those kids who cry at a drop of a hat. The doctors would tell her parents that it's just high blood pressure. But nobody asked WHY a 6 year old would have high blood pressure. Well in December 2008, they finally took her to a specialist because they noticed her eyes were corssing and she started speaking with a lisp, and they found out she has a brain tumour. After a four hour biopsy, they found out that it is malignant, and that they cannot take it out without killing her.
Now, she can't talk, her beautiful doe-eyes are crossed, she can't walk, and we found out last week that she has lost function of the left side of her body.
In December, the doctors said they give her four months to live, so until April 2009, but she still lives now. Is there any hope of her pulling through this?
*Sidenote: The tumour is a the back of her head, and is slipping in between the two halves of her brain and filling in the crevasses of the brain. Last week, they found out he left side got bigger and that's how she lost the function of the left side of her body. *
