Mum diagnosed stage 4 lung cancer

My mum was diagnosed on 1/8/2012 with advanced stage 4 lung cancer. The doctor said it's to advanced for chemotherapy or radiation to be offered. Mum also has pneumonia. It's very confusing as we have seen alot of house doctors and interns and they have all told us that we don't have long ranging from months to weeks to days. Tonight the doctor said they are having a meeting with palliative care team Monday to get mum transferred to palliative care unit. I'm not sure what this means also wondering how long a person can stay stable without treatment.

Re: Mum diagnosed stage 4 lung cancer

Eidently, the doctors feel that gving her any more care from them is futile. Pallitive care is like hospice. They make the person comfortable and keep pain away....
