Child-like behavior--how long will this stage last?

My mother has metastatic lung cancer ( to the brain). Hospice has indicated that she is very ill, but she is still mobile and incredibly obstinate. The biggest behavior of concern at this point is turning on the stove and lighting flammable objects which she thinks are cigarettes. She does take Ativan and Haldol in addition to her other meds. Does this stage ever go away or will it last until the end? Any suggestions or other medications or tactics?
Thanks!
