I have been reading these comments and have not really seen anything as similar as the symptoms my mom is expeiencing.
She was diagnosed after almost a year of back pian. They have said that she should not do chemo or surgery. She is 70 and has severe Rheumatoid Arthritis. Her symptoms at this point are Extreme weekness, pain in her side that radiates to her back. She rarely has a bowel movement, which seems different than the other people on this post. Her urine is very dark. She has not begun losing enough weight that it shows. We have a potty chair next to her bed and often it takes two people to just move from the bed to the potty chair next to the bed. Apparently her liver isn't involved, but her kidneys are. So we have no jauntice. We do have reflux and occassional vomiting.
I do not live here and am just coming up every other week for 3-4 days at a time to give my sister and her mother in law a break as they are the ones caring for her. My sister also works but is able to work from home several days a week. Mom cannot be left alone. Anyway, because my sister is her primary care giver it is hard for me to speak what I am thinking. We have a strained relationship at this point. I am thinking that either hospice needs to have nurses here more than they do, my back already hurts and I cannot in any way lift mom if she cannot help with her legs. When she cannot lift herself, or we cannot lift her will they give her a catheter? I don't know, I am just trying to figure this out.
