What a difficult situation for you and your family-not to mention your brother too. My sister and brother both suffer with paranoid schizophrenia My sister had her medication reduced just over 4 weeks ago now as she was sick of feeling so 'groggy' during the day and sleeping half the day away, leading her to have a breakdown too. As in your brothers case, she is 'walking with the lord' and obeying instructions she recieves via the tv, radio, car number plates, overheard snippets of other peoples conversations etc and is 100% sure this is all completely real. She just keeps saying that we just don't get what the lord is trying to do in her life. We just don't understand. It obviously sounds like your brothers mental health is suffering too at the moment. If those officers believe he's better off inside where he is for the moment and will be able to receive pychiatric help in there it may be in his best interests for the moment. The main thing is that he needs to get back on his meds a.s.a.p. How is he when he takes them? It's a shame he can't see the value of taking them-again my brother is just the same. The only time he ever takes them properly is when he's under section-at least then the hospital will do everything they can to ensure the tablets/injections are administered properly. As soon as he gets out and after the health workers stop going to visit him every day he just stops taking them. I don't know whether any of this has helped but I do know that it's such a worry when things like this happen. Just make sure that he starts his medication while he's in there, give them as much info as possible about his existing condition and hopefully they might refer him back to his original docs/pychiatrist for further help after he's released. If they decide he's to be put under section because he'll refuse his meds and be a danger to himself and others then so be it. It's a tough situation I know but I wish you all the very best.
Good luck, you are not alone in this!
