Support Groups for parents of bipolar?

My 15 year old daughter was recently dx with bipolar disorder. She shows all the symptoms of Bipolar II. She is extremely intelligent, talented, beautiful and has no desire to live. She tells me everything in her life is negative and dark. It tears me apart. I love her so much and feel so lost and unable to help her. She is taking Paxil and Topomax and both of us see a psycologist every other week. Our family attends group therapy meetings every week with others who suffer mental illnesses and suidicidal ideations. She has been an "in-patient" twice and is currently attending out-patient therapy. She has completely failed her first year in high-school (not that it matters to her much) and I have no idea what to do anymore. If anyone out there knows of support groups, on-line resources or anything that can help me I would be eternally grateful for that information. Thank you!
[This message has been edited by paddington (edited 03-24-2002).]

Re: Support Groups for parents of bipolar?

Is it at all possible your daughter could have lyme disease? It can bring out many psychiatric conditions. Where do you live? Any tick exposure? Any other problems besides bipolar? obviously doesn't want to study or can't concentrate....Read up on it and see what you think.

There are a lot of good books on living with a bipolar person. The correct meds help a lot. Good luck to you. cathyi
