I am infertile and because of the high cost of IVF, my dh and will not be having our own child. However, I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of advice on how to go about adoption of an infant? Private adoption agencies cost 20,000 for a caucasian infant....any thoughts?

I dont really have any real advice for you right now, but I was adopted as well as my brother, and I know that my parents dealt with alot of agencies etc. before they got us, and as well as after trying to get brothers/and or sisters for us! I will have a talk with my mom and see if she has any ideas for you! Sorry I couldnt be of more help yet!

Maybe through Catholic Charities? They may be able to put you in contact with an unwed mom who needs to find a loving couple for her unborn baby. Just a thought, I really am not up on that sort of thing.
I think Diane might be on to something, I would try catholic charities and maybe a crisis pregnancy center. I would just make sure that the mother isn't on drugs or drinking...good luck.
BTW, my mom is friends with my OB's wife and she went through IVF to have their daughter and I guess it was ust a horrible ordeal to go through, her husband(my OB) had to inject her with hormone shots every night, I guess it was so bad they won't even consider doing it again.
Thanks for the help. We were going to do IUI and would have had to take the shots for 12 days, but the Dr called the morning we were supposed to go in and start and stated that after reviewing it with a fellow Dr. he did not recommend the IUI procedure and said that there was approx an 85%chance of having eptopic. Not good odds at all, we decided not to risk having to basically terminate our child because it would be eptopic. If there are any other ideas out there, please keep me informed!
