RULE ENFORCEMENT: The Terms of Use and Posting Policy are enforced and updated and do not expire. Moderator rule enforcement is to get your attention to learn and follow the rules on your own. Failure to do so can result in permanent loss of board use.

The number of views does not reflect how many have board access.
No one is obligated to reply, so be sure that you posted on the appropriate board and be patient with members who are dealing with their own problems.

One registration is allowed per person.
Only the registered person is to use the registration.
The member is responsible for any misuse of his/her membership.
Be aware that a suspension will affect everyone using the same computer.

Be safe. This site is public and can be read by anyone. It is never safe to post private or legally sensitive information unless you use websites completely anonymously. All rules apply to blogs & posts. (Please read How to Share Information, see below).

BLOG and MESSAGE BOARD DIFFERENCES -

The MESSAGE BOARDS are for PATIENT TO PATIENT peer support, only. Do not post to ask for or offer professional advice. Likewise, do not post professional information for any reason.

The BLOG feature is only to journal your own health related experience. In Blogs, do not post names, or request comments or ask questions.

BOARD USE - Before Posting on a board, read the informative Sticky Posts that may be posted above the posted messages. The boards are not for advertising anything, ranting about governments, nations, laws, organizations, business, religion, race, gender, nationality, specific people or any other information that is against the Posting Policy).

Start and use your own New Threads to discuss your own subjects and ask your own questions. No one is obligated to reply. Do not add your own health questions onto other threads. Only use other member's threads to support the thread originator (the person that started the thread). Do not hijack threads for your own purposes.

Please only use usernames or first names, no surnames. To protect privacy do not include other names in your posts.

Share suggestions, only. No member is to act as board leader or expert on what another member needs. Remember, readers do not know all of the facts.

Posts become the property of this website to be edited, moved or deleted as deemed to best serve the community.

Please use the closest appropriate board topic. Save a copy of your own posts that you wish to keep.

GENERAL WEBSITE USE (Requests that are not within the rules will always be denied.)

POSTING RULES & TERMS of SERVICE
Posts, profiles and usernames may be corrected or deleted without warning. Moderators enforce the rules and will forward any inquiries to Administrator.

Infractions & Suspensions:
Infractions messages are private communications, from Admin or Moderators to members. Infractions notices are reminders, not punishment. However, there is no obligation to give a reminder before an infraction or suspension. Breaking rules may result in the membership being cancelled.

Good posts never negate disallowed posts.

Members have no authority to instruct other members if, what or where to post. Do not assume authority over other members. Either ignore or else click Report Post so that correct instruction may be provided.

Use of "Report Post".
Do report abusive posts.
Do not post defensively to inappropriate posts.
Do not report posts with advertising URLs. We get instant email notice. If advertising has no URL, feel free to report those.
Do not report posts just because you disagree with the opinion.
Do not post to debate or argue member opinions. Post your own opinions without referring to other opinions.
Do not engage in side discussion on other member's threads. This is called hijacking (start your own New Thread).

This is not a consensus website. Do not refer to other members' opinions in your own post.

Private Messaging; off board contact -

Do not post to request or offer off-board contact. Posting to request or offer any kind of contact attracts spammers and will be treated like advertising, and website access may be terminated.

Private Messaging (PM) is available only to long term members, and is not available to Newbies.

When PM is OFF, access will be denied. Do not request or ask about it.

If PM is ON you may PM the established member one time to see if your PM is accepted. If so, then PM the member again to request permission before sending any product or service information. Otherwise the member may report your message as spam which can result in termination of your membership.

Use Good Personal Judgment

Members and Moderators are patients, not healthcare professionals.

No member is to act as a board leader or expert or determine what another member needs.

NEVER rely on information or opinions to replace necessary personal consultation with qualified health or medical professionals. This forum is only for support, empowerment, sharing opinions and entertainment.

Remember that what's right or has worked for one person may not be what's right for you. Your personal set of circumstances will always influence what's best or right for you. Talk with your physician or personal health professional about the benefits, risks and costs of various options and alternatives in order to make an informed, confident personal choice.

Don't Be Afraid To Post

If you're new to our community, taking the step for the first time to post publicly to a message board can sometimes seem intimidating. Don't be afraid to jump into a discussion. We have a very supportive community that serves up heavy doses of encouragement and enthusiasm. While we hope that you'll become an active participant and join in our discussions, you're welcome, of course, to simply hang out silently until you feel more comfortable posting a message.

Respect Privacy, Be Safe; Do Not Post Identifying Information

Do not post details of legal issues or court cases. Posting or revealing identifying details about a legal case can be used against you in a court of law. Likewise do not slander any business or person by name.

Respect others' privacy when they are Inactive. When or if they want to return is soon enough to reconnect.

Do not post your own or other people's identifying info or real names.

If you are under age 17, do not post your age. Post that you are a teen. Use the Teen Health Boards, and if age 16-19, you may use Sexual Health-Teen.

Please be safe: keep personal information private and remind your children to do so, too. When a reader sees your names and location, it is not hard at all to discover where you live from information on local public records. Remember that posts are picked up by search engines and may circulate on the World Wide Internet for years to be read by anyone in the world.

Have fun, Get Serious, Be Yourself

Be yourself! As long as it is within the terms of use, there are no other rules about how best to get in touch with yourself and others. Share your joys and laughter, tears and fears. This is the key to connecting with others who understand it is OK to just be yourself.

If you're feeling alone or hurting, don't be afraid to share. If you're rejoicing about the results of a recent medical test or treatment, share that too. If something funny happened to you today that can help lighten others' hearts, we want to hear about it so that we can laugh too. Sharing who you are is healthy medicine at HealthBoards.com.

Agree to Disagree

DO NOT CRITIQUE POSTED OPINION or ATTACK ANYONE. Others are entitled to have their own opinions and to make their own choices. Negative communications to or about members are inappropriate.

This is not a place to post slanderous or hateful statements about anything. Comments about sexual preference or orientation, gender, race, color, religious beliefs, nationality, or DISABILITY -- are not permitted.

BEFORE you post a message that may embarrass, humiliate or harass a person or group of people, stop and THINK first! Harassing communications are deemed to be any words that may cause distress, embarrassment, unwanted attention or other discomfort. If you feel attacked by a member, please click to report that post and don't post about it.

What is good for you may not be the answer for another. NO one is to act as an expert on what is appropriate for someone else. SUPPORT OTHERS in their health decisions for themselves. Providing your opinion should be polite, and not result in disparaging remarks or religious discussion, or one-upsmanship. Both medical and alternative solution opinions belong on the boards. Even if you disagree with an idea, it still may be the solution for another. Decisions about health and well-being are highly personal, individual choices. If you disagree with a person's post or opinion, do not debate it. You may state your opinion to the thread originator, once, then move on without argument.

Likewise, expect to get some opinions you may not like or find helpful. If so take what you want and ignore the rest. Do not attack members that took time to reply.

When a member asks for support only, please respect the request; do not reply with contradictory comments.

Do not SHOUT

Let it out, but don't SHOUT at one another. Shouting online (typing in all capital letters) is deemed to be rude and difficult to read. To others, especially individuals with some types of disabilities, typing in all caps (or in all lower case) is a necessity (Using the shift key can be a struggle for a lot of folks). However, if it is necessary, please use all lower case letters. Be sure to inform others so they understand.

Welcome Newcomers

When newcomers arrive, say "hi" and welcome them onboard the community. Help new folks to become involved.

Post to all readers: do not indulge in cliquey, general subject threads. Posts that call out to others to center around a group of members are inappropriate.

[to top]

Keep Posts Clean

Do not post obscenity or vulgar language, or describe explicit sex acts. There may be places where suggestive, explicit, obscene or vulgar language, graphics or behavior are permitted, but HealthBoards.com is not one of them.
Posts that are deemed in any way to be inappropriate, or that solicit or offer explicit or X-rated GIFs, JPEGs or other graphic files will be deleted. Usernames with sexual or negative implication/content will be banned.

(Post messages about health of gender body parts on the appropriate Women's Or Men's Health Boards, and address sexuality only on a Sexual Health Board.)

[to top]

Share Only In Your Own Words.

Copying & pasting Information that is not your own is not permitted.

Such posts will be removed as soon as possible.

[to top]

Avoid Duplicate Posts (Cross-Posting)

Do not post similar or same messages more than once on a message board or blog. Duplicate messages may be deemed to be advertising. Post your message in the forum that most closely relates to your message subject and allow time for the others to see and respond to your post. Or, email administrator to request that your post be moved to a different board topic. Duplicate messages will be removed as soon as possible.
