Can I do anything else...PLEASE TELL ME

Hi

I have posted in the past about me having Fibormyalgia. However, my rhemuatologists does not do pain control. He was sending me to my regular doctor for pain medications. My regular doctor does not believe in Fibromyalgia and against his own beliefs he prescribed me Vicodin ES 10mg and Skelaxin 800mg. He sent a letter to my rhemuy and told him to send me to pain specialist to continue that he was not comfortable keeping me on these meds.

My Rheumy finally after a weeks time found one doctor that was under my insurance that was in pain management. Closest to me is 45 miles.

I have an appointment to go there on November 12. Do I really have to go to this doctor. Isnt there some form of Physical Therapy I can do? I am really tired of hurting you guys. My legs and arms hurt alot. My neck and down my back shoulder blades. The lists could go on and on. I am not really excited about living on pain pills. Can Physical Therapy help me or am I stuck with having to take pain pills. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
HateHurting aka Mary

Hy Mary, I have been suffering from fibro for about 10 years now along with a lot of other medical problems and honestly idont thinkthe pain meds helpthat much anyway , the best ive found, for fibro pain atleat was my tens unit, rice bags ,staying calm as possible, trying to make people understand NOT to hug, squeeze or giuve you love pats, that about makes me want to scream, mainly pace yourself during the day, dont overdo it or you will pay for it later with a fibro flare, now I have all this other jumk and my fibro is on the back burner for awhile. Hope you feel better soon..If you dont have a tens unit ask your pain dr about getting you one they help quite a bit

Mary,

Rita gives good advice here. I too have a portable TENS unit and it does help block the pain. You might also try taking calcium and magnesium before you go to bed at night, it helps with the restless legs and pain that keeps us awake at night. At least it used to help me when my fibro wasn't as progressed as it is now. I too have had it for about 10 years and one thing you may find, you build up a tolerance to things quickly so always be willing to try something new. I find that Yoga is a gentle stretching exercise that helps a lot, no impact to our tender joints and muscles. Good luck to you.

Hi painhurting:
I know how hard it is to live with pain every day.
I was bedridden for 6 months because of CFIDS and fibrlomaylgia. Anti inflammatory medicines help a lot. Than I tried doing Some YOGA, and you cannot believe what a difference. I use to take hot soaks and than did my yoga.
First month was very hard. Now I can do things here and there. I am not bedridden any more. Still I have pains and sometimes they realy get worst. But there is no medicine that can cure it. Only some kind of excercise can help the muscles. Magnesium is very helpful and It keeps you calm too.
Find a doctor who realy understands you. Most of the doctors tell you, it's psycosomatic.
Hope you feel better.
