I'm sorry I don't have an answer, I just wanted to let you know I'll be watching this post closely, I have a 1st cousin with MS but I'm not close to her at all. Maybe it's time to get in touch.
Hello, there are several types of MS. I am not real sure about the differences though.
One thing I do know is that a brain and/or brain stem scan should be done. If little white spots show up on the brain scan, (ususally a dye is injected) it is called lesions and it is one sign of MS. There are also nuerological tests that a neurologist can do that will help decide if it is MS or fibromyalgia. I was checked by a neurologist and he said I have numerous disc and back and neck problems and my tests did not show MS. I was also seen by an internist and a rheumatologist when I was going through my initial evaluation to rule out other diseases. I had a lot of blood tests done.
The best way to tell are the brain scans and MRI's and lots of blood tests to rule out any other problem. But I have heard that some people can have MS and Fibro at the same time. Maybe someone else has a better answer here for you. MistyMisty
