Question TOO much pain

Has anyone else here ever had to stay i hospital BECAUSE of their fibro? I am in just absolutely too much pain. I can not handle any more of it. I am so flared up! Plus stomach-possible ulcer is troubling me, ulnee nerve trapped at elbow and mitral valve prolapse giving me pains. None of mypain meds are enugh right now. Doesn't matter how I sit, lie, stand, walk nothing helps ease it. Only thign helps it when it gets this bad is morphine injection. Took kadian-morphine capsules daily for a while but that doesn't help just the injections. If any of you have, what were they able to/what did they do? I would love right now to just be hooked up to a morphine pump for a few days ( ,,,and all this cryign does is make my head hurt too (

meds I am taking for fibor and whatever else ails me at the moment.....
percocet 7.5
skelaxin 800mg
prevacid 30mg
ativan 2mg
effexor xr 150mg

Called rheumatologist this afternoon-gonna call me back tomorrow may ask to be admitted but don't know if I should bother....

ANYbodies thoughts or prayers right now would be VERY welcome....

Re: TOO much pain

i'm so sorry- i will send good thoughts your way. i am totally new to the pain, and flares, so i don't have any words of wisdom, but at the height of my flare about 2 weeks ago i thought i was dying (this was before i got dx'ed).

i heard there is a morphine patch, but i'm sure you already know about that.

i know what you mean about the crying making your head hurt- isn't that the worst, you just cry because you can't stand the pain, and get slapped in the face with head pain?

i'm sorry, i hope you feel better soon.

Re: TOO much pain

Dear BetsySue,

I feel so bad that there isn't anything I can do to help. I can just tell you that we're here for you will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. I have never been hospitalized because of the fibro pain but I came very close about 4 years ago. I tried to convince myself that I was overreacting when I wanted to go to the hospital so I stuck it out for days, barely able to move, I was in constant misery. If I ever get that bad again, I'm not going to stick it out at home, I'm going to go straight to the hospital. I think you should call your doctor and tell him how bad it is and see if he will go ahead and admit you. Since you are so tense because of the pain, it's just like a snowball effect, it is making everything worse. If you can get some relief from this severe pain, and relax, hopefully you can work through this horrendous flare. We're pulling for you!

Re: TOO much pain

So sorry to hear youre having a bad flareup and in so much pain hon.
Im on hydrocodone 7.5 4x a day plus ultram (tramadol) for breakthru pain. None of it takes the pain away tho, just takes the edge off of it.
I was also sent to a pain management doc who of all things THINKS its best NOT to treat fibro with pain drugs but with guafenesin and EXercise. THE IDIOT!!! FIrst thing he wanted to do was take me OFF the pain meds. I was already on guafenesin for the past year and that along WITH the pain meds hardly touched the pain. I cant imagine not taking them and just trying to bear the pain.
Know what the funny thing was?? He actually had the nerve to tell me and my hubby that he KNEW fibro was extremely painful and he knew he wouldnt be able to take his own advice, but was treating his patients without drugs so that they wouldnt get "hooked" on them and turn them into addicts.
My own primary doc (who was treating me for the fibro before) disagrees and said people shouldnt have to bear pain. DRUGS were made to 'help" people and a good doctor is required to do his duty to make patients more comfortable.
So, for now, i see my primary doc, and shes wonderful. I do beleive shes doing everything in her power to treat me with dignity. She also told me if the pain ever gets so severe i cant handle it, to go to the ER. Hope you get some good results soon hon.
Jen
