I'm new here and trying to find out how to reply. And I goofed!
I have FM. Right after I was diagnosed I retired (in 1999) from being a legal asst. and am collecting SS Disability.
I have cholesterol of 240 without med and 200 with med. When they told me about being watchful for muscle pain with my med, which is Lovistatin, I laughed and said how would I ever tell? He said it will be so severe you will be able to tell.
I only take 1/2 of my med, or 5 mg. He prescribed 10 mg but I wanted to see what taking 1/2 of that amount would do for me. Cut down on the chances of any type of side effects. So far, he's happy with what 5 mg is doing and so we're staying with it.
Is there a difference with Lipitor as opposed to other "statin" drugs as far as the risks involved? I don't blame you for being very careful.
I also watch what I eat and have just been able to begin walking 5 days a week for 1/2 hour. They say it doesn't have to 1/2 hour all at once. It can be 10 minutes here and there. Right now im am able to do 1/2 hour at a time. But that's just recently.
Let us know how you do because many have the same question you posed.
God Bless!
Marcia
