Now This Is Crazy

My tounge felt sort of numby on the one side, than that went away started getting some mild throat spasms. Now I have the sensation of my mouth pulling down toward the chin on both side. No visual pulling effect or other symtons. hard to even explain the sensation but it is driving me crazy, somewhat like a numbing but can feel the area when I touch it, a pulling sensation, who knows.

I do have TMJ also. Usually get the cheek bone numby feeling that will make my mouth on the left feel like this, but this time it is both sides and the cheek is not involved.

Anyone else experience any of this crazy stuff Went on the TMJ board but could find no answers.

Linda

Re: Now This Is Crazy

Hi Linda--

I've never had that feeling before associated with Fibromyalgia---not that it isn't associated with it.

The times I've felt something similar is when there is some kind of dental thing going on and once when I was on a medication called Reglan.

yes a fibro flare can and does cause annoying facial discomfort. I feel like my jaws are being sqeezed in a vice at times. It drives me crazy.

Re: Now This Is Crazy

I have those wierd sensations as well. My whole right side gets them in different places. But sometimes it will be on the right side of my face, skull, neck and down to my arm. That's always a little disturbing because I always wonder to myself is this just fibro or a stroke or something. My Grama had a stroke at 32 so I'm a little paranoid about it.

I haven't found anything other than rest anda little movement to try to bring back circulation that helps. But don't decide to chop a plate of cru de' tas or anything, you might and some finger to thedish. Cayenne pepper tablets help if you can stand to take them. They don't taste bad or anything but if you're prone to heartburn it can be too much for you.

Sometimes don't ya just wanna yell WAKE UP to the numb parts of your body.

Re: Now This Is Crazy

You know what, you people on this board are great, someone always answers you even if they do not have the same symtom they at least let you know they care.

This finally went away, kept moving and finally my nose went numb and than got the tmj jaw pain. The first time I ever had this about 15 years ago I thought stroke also, called my Dr. and he said no. I had the cheek numbness and from pinching my face I was all black and blue. This is the first time I had this that it only centered around the mouth and nose. Do get a lot of numbness in my foot and arms also. Wake up is right.

I do have some blockage in my carotid artery so get very frightened with this stuff. I just read an article that if you suspect someone of having a stroke, ask them to say a simple sentence, raise their arms and smile if they can do this it was not a stroke.

Thanks for being there, Linda
